The challenge
Electric vehicle drivers face range anxiety
Electric vehicle drivers face range anxiety - uncertainty about whether they will reach a charging station in time. Existing apps only show static station info, leaving drivers to manually calculate decisions and creating cognitive stress.
Solution
NextCharge syncs real-time battery and route data, predicts charging needs, and suggests optimal stations before drivers have to search for them.



The Strategy
Data-Driven Synchronization
Approaching the project as a Systems Builder, I shifted the focus from "finding a station" to "managing a journey".
Seamless Connectivity
Utilizing SSO (Single Sign-On) to establish a secure, live link between the vehicle’s hardware and the mobile interface.
AI-Enhanced Logic
Integrating predictive algorithms that learn user driving patterns to suggest optimal charging stops before the driver identifies a need.



High-Stress UI Logic
Developed a 'glanceable' visual system optimized for half-second comprehension, ensuring driver safety in high-stress environments.
Functional Motion
Utilized rhythmic motion to visualize energy flow and provide intuitive feedback during charging, reducing user anxiety through visual certainty.




I created an incentive-driven system that turns a simple utility app into a motivational ecosystem, encouraging users to engage regularly through external rewards.
Carbon Tracking
By visualizing real-time CO2 savings, the app fosters a sense of environmental accomplishment, enhancing users’ commitment to sustainable behaviors.
The Coin Economy
Users earn digital coins for every charging session, creating a direct external motivation to keep using the app and strengthen loyalty.
Partner Ecosystem
Accumulated coins can be redeemed for real-world rewards, such as discounts and prizes, extending the app’s value beyond just vehicle charging.

Reflection
NextCharge proved that the most impactful products balance technical utility with behavioral design. It taught me how to transform a routine task into a rewarding, sustainable habit by designing for both safety and the human psyche.
